Oh where do I even begin? Serena + Scott are the perfect match – they absolutely adore one another! You can certainly see that in every photo. First of all, we had the amazing opportunity to fly to NYC to capture their engagement photos. In case you missed those, you can check them out here. We highly encourage a couple to work with us beforehand to get comfortable in front of the camera, so in every collection we offer a complimentary engagement session. Just ask Serena! She’s happy to remind any bride why engagement photos are so important for the BIG day! And not only are they crucial, they are super FUN! 🙂
We kicked off the “East Meets West” celebration at Cedar Lake Farms in Wright City, MO. Love this place! Really, I love any place with a barn. 🙂 The couple resides in NY (East) and brought the celebration to the St. Louis area (West) where Serena is originally from. Scott is a NY firefighter (with an awesome East coast accent), as if we need another reason to fall in love with this guy. Anyway, Cedar Lake was the perfect place – with the bright red fire engine! So of course we had the perfect area to work portraits! A large subway map indicated where guests would sit according to their subway stop. On each table laid a hand-made quilt (by Serena’s grandma!) embroidered with the corresponding subway stop. Guests were asked to write a sweet note to the couple on it!
Did I mention that Serena’s fabulous mother made her dress! YES! Made.her.dress. Goodness, right?! I told you! These two lovebirds are really close with their families – the bridal party was all family and Serena’s brother was the officiant! Oh and I can’t end this post without mentioning Scott and his guitar. He topped the night by singing a song he had written for Serena. It was an amazing serenade. Goosebumps! Okay, let’s all cry together now.
We were extremely thrilled to be part of such an awesome occasion. It’s really enjoyable to get out of a church setting and instead capture photographs in nice natural light and be in one open area the entire time. Gotta mix things up a bit. ;).
